The solenoid coil energizes the reversing valve on a heat pump system, which controls whether the system runs in heating or cooling mode. If your heat pump is stuck in one mode — heating when it should be cooling or vice versa — a failed solenoid coil is a common cause. This is the Goodman OEM coil for their heat pump reversing valves.
