The TXV (thermostatic expansion valve) controls how much refrigerant flows into your evaporator coil. If your AC is freezing up, not cooling well, or showing abnormal superheat readings, the TXV may need replacement. This Sanhua valve is a 3-ton R-410A replacement with universal kit with Aeroquip and Chatleff fittings.

How do I install a TXV correctly?

1. Match the refrigerant class + tonnage. 2. Braze the inlet and outlet connections with refrigerant-rated low-temp brazing rod, keeping the valve body wrapped in wet rag to prevent heat damage. 3. Mount the sensing bulb on the TOP of the suction line (clamped tight, insulated). Wrong bulb position = wrong superheat reading = wrong refrigerant feed. 4. Connect the external equalizer line (if equipped) downstream of the bulb. 5. Pull vacuum to 500 microns minimum before charging.

What's the difference between Universal-kit and Chatleff?

Universal kits include flare connections that adapt to a variety of distributor fittings. Chatleff is the threaded connection that fits most Goodman, Rheem, Lennox, and Allstyle evaporator coils. Verify your distributor's fitting style -- bring the old TXV in or take a photo of the existing fitting before ordering.

Why does my system have high superheat?

Could be: undercharge, restricted TXV (filter screen plugged, frozen / oil-fouled bulb), wrong-tonnage TXV, or non-condensables. Diagnose charge first; replace TXV only after eliminating other causes.

Can I use an R-22 TXV on an R-410A system?

NO. R-410A operates at ~60% higher pressures than R-22, so an R-22 TXV will starve or flood an R-410A evaporator. HOWEVER, R-410A, R-454B, and R-32 TXVs ARE interchangeable -- those three refrigerants all run nearly identical P/T curves, so a 410A TXV works fine on a 454B or R-32 system at the same tonnage. Match the refrigerant class first (R-22 alone vs R-410A/R-454B/R-32 group), then verify tonnage.
