EZABM – FITTING (MINISPLIT ADAPTOR, GAS RETAINING)

Uniweld Ez-Turn anti-blowback mini split adapter. Converts a 1/4 in. male flare service port to the 5/16 in. (1/2-20) female fitting used on R-410A mini split service valves, and the gas-retaining design holds charge while you connect. Straight body; a 90-degree version is sold as EZABM90.

There is oil around my service port. Is that a leak?

Yes. Oil at a port means refrigerant has been leaving with it. A Schrader core is a couple of dollars and its rubber seal hardens up after a dozen Dallas summers. Replace the core rather than cranking the cap down harder. The core is the seal. The cap is only insurance.

What does a core removal tool actually do for me?

It pulls the Schrader core out while the port stays sealed, so recovery, evacuation and charging all happen through a full size opening instead of through the pinhole in the core. That core is a real restriction. Trying to pull 500 microns through one is how a 20 minute evacuation turns into two hours. The tool also lets you change a leaking core without recovering the charge. Close the shut-off valve before you back the capture rod out, or you will dump refrigerant in your face.

Schrader or ball type - which do I need?

Match what the equipment has. Schrader access valves are the small ports on residential condensers and line sets. Ball and rotolock service valves are what you find on larger compressors and commercial racks, and they front seat and back seat so you can isolate a component without recovering the system. One is not a substitute for the other.

Is anything different on A2L equipment?

The valves and cores work the same way, but R-454B and R-32 cylinders use a left-hand thread connection, so you need the left-hand adapter to get a hose onto the tank, and your hoses, manifold and recovery gear need to be A2L rated.
