Pro tip

Shut off the breaker and the disconnect before a panel comes off. Then write down three things off the old switch before you buy - the L number, the probe length from the plate to the tip, and the mounting hole spacing. A limit that trips is almost always reporting an airflow problem, not causing one. Around Dallas we see it most in November, on furnaces that spent the whole long cooling season as an AC blower behind a filter nobody changed since May.

Snap-disc furnace high-limit switch from the DL series; the number is the opening (cut-out) temperature in degrees F. It is a safety device that breaks the heating circuit when the plenum overheats, and a limit that keeps tripping points at restricted airflow or a failed blower rather than at the switch. No manufacturer datasheet is published for this number, so reset type and disc size are unconfirmed. Never substitute a higher-temperature limit – that removes the furnace’s overheat protection.

Specifications from our own stock records. The manufacturer does not publish a public page for this item.
