A DFW heat pump only leans on its strips below a balance point around 35 to 40F, which is a handful of mornings a year, so a bad sequencer hides until the first hard freeze. Test yours in October, not in January. Contacts welded closed are the expensive failure - strip heat running all through a Dallas cooling season shows up on the electric bill long before anybody feels it. Pull the disconnect, then count stacks and terminals before you buy.

Flange-mount DPDT ice cube style relay sold by Lennox under catalog number 67K65, with Lennox listing Deltrol Controls as the brand and 23767-70 as the model number. It uses a 24 VAC coil and 1/4 inch quick-connect tabs and switches line-voltage loads from a low-voltage control signal. Note that Lennox’s own listing is inconsistent on contact rating – the product title states 15 A maximum while the specification table shows 8 A, so verify the rating printed on the relay body before applying it to a load.

What does a heat sequencer actually do?
It is a bimetal time delay. The thermostat energizes a 24 volt heater inside it, the disc warms and flexes, and the load contacts close a few seconds later. Stack two or three with different timings and the heat strips come on a bank at a time instead of slamming 15 or 20 kW onto the panel at once. Coming down, contacts hold closed roughly 40 to 110 seconds after the call ends so the blower can carry leftover heat out of the cabinet.
The blower runs but I only get a little heat. Is it the sequencer?
Maybe. One bank warm and the rest cold points at a dead stack in a multi-pole sequencer, or an open element or element fuse link. No heat at all with the blower running means either no 24 volts reaching the sequencer coil or nothing closing on the load side.
My strips run constantly and the bill is ugly. What is that?
Usually welded contacts. A sequencer that never opens keeps a strip energized any time the blower runs, and in Dallas that means strip heat quietly riding along through a long cooling season. Pull the disconnect and check continuity across the load terminals with the unit stone cold.
How do I match one?
Count the switch stacks and terminals, confirm a 24 volt coil, and check the timing. Q103 through Q108, NS101 and NS102, and the 42-23116 series all look alike and differ by pole count and delay.
