Symptoms of failure

  • No response at all when the thermostat calls
  • Board LED flashes a fault code, or shows nothing
  • Blower or inducer runs constantly and will not stop
  • Visible scorch marks, a blown fuse or a bulged capacitor on the board
  • Furnace works intermittently with no pattern
  • Relays on the board click but nothing downstream energizes

Seeing these does not always mean this part is the culprit. Bring the old one in and we will meter it at the counter, free, before you buy.

If your Lennox air handler blower shuts off too quickly after the system cycles, or doesn’t start when it should, the time delay relay controls that timing. This relay keeps the blower running for 45 seconds after the compressor shuts down to push remaining conditioned air through the ducts.

Installing it yourself

Difficulty 4/5Typical time 45-90 minutes

  1. Power off at the furnace switch and confirm 0V.
  2. Photograph EVERY connector before you unplug anything. This is the step people skip and regret.
  3. Check the obvious first - a blown 3A fuse, a tripped rollout, a bad ground. Most boards that get replaced were not the problem.
  4. Unplug connectors one at a time and move them to the new board as you go.
  5. If you are fitting a universal board, the harness and the DIP switch settings are part of the job - those switches set the safety timings.
  6. Match the flash-code chart on the new board's label, not the old one. Codes are not standardised between brands.
  7. Restore power and watch a full heat cycle end to end before closing up.
  8. We do not run full diagnostics on boards at the counter, but bring the furnace model and the flash code and we will help you work out whether the board is really the failure.

Power off at the disconnect first, every time. Not sure partway through? Bring it to the counter and we will walk it with you.
