SR1408-3W – SUPPLY REGISTER (14″ x 8″, 3-WAY, STAMPED FACE)

A supply register covers your supply duct opening and directs conditioned air into the room. This 3-way model directs air in three directions for wider coverage. It has a built-in multi-shutter damper so you can open or close it to balance airflow between rooms. If your current register is broken, paint-clogged, or you want better air distribution, this is the fix.

What size return grille or register do I need?

Grilles and registers are sold by the DUCT OPENING they cover, not by the outside dimension of the faceplate. Measure the hole in the wall, ceiling or floor - the faceplate will overlap it by roughly an inch on each side.

Which number comes first, width or height?

Width first, then height. A 20 x 30 return grille is 20 inches wide and 30 inches tall. Getting them backwards is the most common reason a grille comes back.

Return grille or supply register - what is the difference?

A return grille pulls air back to the system and is usually large, fixed and often takes a filter. A supply register pushes conditioned air into the room and has adjustable louvers and a damper so you can aim and throttle it.

Can I close off a register in a room I do not use?

A couple of them, briefly, is usually survivable. Closing several raises static pressure across the whole system, which can freeze a coil, crack a heat exchanger over time, or push a blower out of its range. If a room is always too hot or too cold the answer is almost never the register.

My return grille is too small. Does that matter?

Yes. Undersized return is one of the most common causes of poor airflow, noisy vents and short equipment life in Dallas houses. If the grille whistles or the filter sucks flat against it, the return is undersized.
