QT1130 – AEROSOL REFRIGERANT FLUSH (1LB)

Qwik System Flush in a 1 lb aerosol can, used to flush residual oil, sludge, acid, moisture and debris out of line sets and components after a burnout or refrigerant changeout. One 1 lb can services up to a 5-ton system. Dispensed through a Can Access Valve (QT1105) with the can inverted into a flare fitting or flush tool, with waste captured for proper disposal. Non-toxic, non-flammable, ozone safe, leaves no residue.

Acid or alkaline coil cleaner?

Depends which coil and whether you can rinse it. Acid brighteners belong on outdoor condensers - they cut oxidation and cottonwood, and they will etch aluminum fins and strip a coil coating if you let them sit. Alkaline foaming cleaners belong on evaporators, where they lift grease, dust and biofilm. Both of them want water afterward. Rinse until the runoff comes out clear.

Are no-rinse cleaners really no-rinse?

Only in the sense that condensate does the rinsing on an evaporator, and only if the pan and drain are actually clear. Dried cleaner residue holds dirt like flypaper and keeps working on the metal. On any coil you can reach with a hose, rinse it. And never put an acid cleaner on an indoor coil you cannot flush.

Can flush solvent stay in the system?

No, never. It has to be pushed all the way out with nitrogen and then boiled off under a deep vacuum, which is exactly what the Nu-Calgon directions describe. Pull or bypass the filter drier, and do not flush through a compressor, TXV, reversing valve or check valve - take them out of the loop first. New liquid line drier afterward, then a proper evacuation.

What sealant goes on gas threads?

One rated for fuel gas. The fuel gas code requires the joint compound to be resistant to the action of the gas, which is why yellow gas-rated PTFE tape is the gas tape and the thin white roll from the plumbing aisle is not. Male threads only, started a thread or two back so nothing squeezes into a gas valve. No sealant of any kind on a flare or a compression fitting.
