If your furnace is short-cycling (turning on and off repeatedly), a failed limit switch or pressure switch may be the cause. The limit switch monitors heat exchanger temperature and shuts off the burner if it gets too hot — protecting the heat exchanger from cracking. This auto-reset model restores operation after it cools down. The HH18HA498 is a Carrier OEM part.
