Soft copper refrigeration tubing is used for connecting AC and refrigeration equipment. ACR-grade copper comes clean, dehydrated, and sealed. This 50-foot roll of 5/8″ tubing is used for suction lines in smaller residential AC systems and some mini-split installations.

Specs: 5/8″ OD x 50 ft, soft drawn ACR copper tubing, dehydrated and capped.

What size copper fitting do I need?

Refrigeration copper is sized by the OUTSIDE diameter of the tube, unlike plumbing copper which is sized by nominal inside diameter. A 3/4" refrigeration fitting measures 3/4" across the outside of the pipe it accepts. Measure the tube, not the old fitting.

What is a street elbow?

A street elbow has one male end and one female end, so it slips straight into another fitting without a short piece of pipe between them. A standard elbow is female on both ends. Street fittings save a joint in tight spaces.

Why long radius?

A long radius elbow turns the refrigerant more gently, which means less pressure drop and better oil return than a tight bend. On refrigerant lines that matters more than it does on water.

What is a coupling with a stop?

A dimple or ridge in the middle that stops the pipe at the correct insertion depth, so both ends seat evenly. A coupling without a stop lets you slide it along the pipe, which is useful for repairs where you cannot pull the line apart.

Do I need to purge with nitrogen while brazing?

Yes, on any refrigerant line. Brazing copper without a nitrogen purge forms cupric oxide scale inside the tube, which breaks loose and plugs the metering device or the compressor. Flow a low nitrogen purge through the line while you braze.
