If your furnace is short-cycling, check the filter first — a clogged filter causes the limit switch to trip. If the filter is clean, then the switch itself may be failing.

Description
If your furnace is short-cycling (turning on and off repeatedly), a failed limit switch may be the cause. This is a Rheem OEM high limit switch with a 3-inch probe and odd-shaped base. Opens at 150°F with auto reset. Make sure you match the odd-base mounting configuration — standard 3-inch switches with round bases won’t fit.
