25/440 – CAPACITOR (ROUND, MADE IN USA)

If your AC won’t start, hums but doesn’t kick on, or runs but won’t cool, a bad capacitor is the most common cause. This 25 MFD round cap powers a single motor — compressor or condenser fan. Replace when the motor hums but won’t kick on.

How do I know if my run capacitor is bad?

The motor it powers (fan or blower) won't start, hums but doesn't spin, runs slow, or trips on overload. We bench-test these free at the counter — bring it in.

Can I use a higher MFD rating?

No. Match MFD exactly to the motor's data plate. Higher MFD over-amps the windings and shortens motor life. Voltage rating can go UP (440V replaces 370V) but never down.

Does shape (oval vs round) matter?

Electrically no — same value works in either shape. Fitment in your cap bracket might. Bring the old one in and we'll match the form factor.

Do I need to discharge it before removing?

Yes — even an "off" cap holds 240V+ that bites hard. Short the terminals with an insulated screwdriver for 5 seconds before disconnecting.
