If your furnace is short-cycling, check the filter first — a clogged filter causes the limit switch to trip. If the filter is clean, then the switch itself may be failing.

Description
If your furnace is short-cycling (turning on and off repeatedly), a failed limit switch may be the cause. This manual reset limit switch opens at 230°F to shut the system down when temperatures get too high. After it trips, you push the reset button to restart.
Specs: Opens at 230°F, manual reset, micro size, SPST, 1/4″ quick-connect terminals
Replaces: PRL130, SRL230
Fits: Universal — works in most residential gas furnaces and heaters from Goodman, Carrier, Trane, Rheem, Lennox, York, and others that use a micro-base limit switch rated at L230.
