Always match the MFD value exactly. Voltage can be equal or higher (440V replaces 370V) but never lower. Round and oval are interchangeable if the MFD and voltage match.

If your AC won’t start, hums but doesn’t kick on, or runs but won’t cool, a bad capacitor is the most common cause. This 40+5 MFD dual cap powers both your compressor (40 MFD) and condenser fan (5 MFD) from one unit. The most common AC capacitor type.
